The Golden Pencil: The Freelance Writer’s Resource

18 New Freelance Writing and Editing Jobs Posted

by Anne Wayman on May 16th, 2005

There are 18 new freelance writing and editing jobs posted today.

Searching for freelance writing jobs requires persistence and a keen eye for details, when details are available. Sometimes you have to read a posting more than once to figure out that they are offering “exposure” rather than pay for your work. Sometimes it simply isn’t clear what they want or what they’re offering.

If you’re dealing with an unclear freelance writing or editing job description you’ve got several choices:

  • You can ignore it, figuring that if they don’t know what they want, you don’t want to get involved.
  • Check out their website if it’s listed. If the site doesn’t specifically spell out where the jobs are, check their ‘about this site’ link – that often leads somewhere productive.
  • Send an email asking for clarification. Don’t be surprised if you don’t get an answer; posters of jobs get inundated with email. But sometimes you’ll get a reasonable response that may lead to landing the gig.

Applying for freelance writing and editing jobs online does work – often enough to be worth the effort.
