When Life Interferes With Writing
Yech! Today I begin a series of fairly major dental treatments and, if you want the truth, I’m scared. I’m pretty dental phobic, and yesterday the fear kicked in hard, making it impossible to do much writing. Or much of anything else, for that matter.
So how will I turn this into a writing win? There are several articles that could come out of this (in addition to this blog). I could write about my fear and maybe combine it with the gratitude I feel that I live in an era where dental problems can be solved. I could write about the dentist’s office and his career for a trade magazine. I could write about how I should have taken care of my teeth all along, and why I didn’t. I could write a more general article about the debilitating effects of fear, and what to do about it.
I don’t know that I will write any of these articles, but the material is there if I want to make use of it.
Writing ideas are everywhere if we just keep our minds open to them.
Write well and often.
