27 New Freelance Writing and Editing Jobs

by Anne Wayman on June 20th, 2005

I’m not sure what’s going on, but there seem to be a ton of writing jobs offering to pay what works out to be a penny or less per word circulating these days. And in many cases, that pay is on spec – that is, the websites in question aren’t willing to pay unless they make money. And some don’t even tell you what they are going to do with your words if they use them.

I suspect there are some folks trying to make money on keyword optimized articles – they’ll collect articles rich in keywords to sell to website owners who need content and want to buy it on the cheap. My hunch is the site owners who buy this stuff will eventually suffer because there will be so much duplicate content, Google and other major search engines will refuse to list their sites.

My suggestion is don’t bite on any of these. If the pay isn’t clear, and isn’t at least on publication, or if it’s tiny money, move on down the road to something better – you deserve it.

We have 27 New Jobs listed today – go get ‘em.
