Some of My Thoughts on the Hurricane Katrina Disaster

by Anne Wayman on September 2nd, 2005

I was in Philadelphia at a conference as Katrina developed. Since I was in a hotel, I was watching TV news. (I don’t have TV at home, thank the Goddess.) I understood the potential severity and I grasped the fact that New Orleans is, in large measure, below sea level.

Like so many, I have serious questions about how the disaster is being handled, or mis-handled. I simply don’t understand why more preparation was done in advance or why it is taking so long to get the needed help on site.

If you’re in the U.S. it’s time to call your representative and demand both that someone take charge and that we put in place real plans for future disasters from whatever source. I also think it’s time to declare windfall profits for the oil companies and tax them.

It’s also passed time to work for truly safe alternative energy.

Donate what you can - and be aware there are already dozens of frauds out there on the net.

Keep the people there and our country in whatever sort of prayer, good thoughts, etc. that works for you.

Love and blessings to all,

P.S. If you want to read blogs about all this, Tecnocrati is a great source.
