24 New Jobs for Freelance Writers and Editors

by Anne Wayman on November 18th, 2005

I just posted 24 new jobs for freelance writers and editors. We’re moving into the end-of-the-year holiday season which, generally, means fewer job postings. But I’ve been surprised before, so we shall see.

Sometimes I’m tempted to apply for a writing gig just because of the high pay. I’ve learned over time that if they are asking for writing about a subject I don’t know or don’t like, it’s not worth even trying. It takes time to put together a decent proposal and if I happen to get the job, which is unlikely because I don’t have decent credits in that area, I usually end up hating it and giving it up sooner than anyone likes.

Give the postings careful reading and ask yourself if you really want that gig and if you think you’d do a good job… if you can answer yes to both, then go for it. Otherwise, your just wasting everyone’s time, including your own.

Write well and often,
