The Golden Pencil: The Freelance Writer’s Resource

Challenged Books

by Anne Wayman on November 20th, 2005

Chasity Moody, professional writer and author of the I Feel Pithy Blog has posted a link to the American Library Association’s 100 Most Challenged Books, 1990-2000. According to the ALA, A challenge is an attempt to remove or restrict materials, based upon the objections of a person or group…

It’s a scary list. I truly don’t understand the people who feel books should be banned, for any reason. Looking at the list makes me certain we must start paying closer attention to how the First Amendment is interpreted. There’s a ton of solid info on the ALA site… a great place to start.

Thanks, Chasity!

Write well and often,
