56 New Jobs for Freelance Writers

by Anne Wayman on March 14th, 2006

The job number is back up - just posted 56 new jobs for freelance writers and editors. Go get ‘em.

Someone started a thread on our forum about elance today - the problem with elance is that the bids are shown and the price for each job keeps going lower and lower… not a good thing in my opinion. But, elance has been there a long time so maybe I’m wrong. Would love some comments one way or the other.

Write well and often,

Elance was good for me in the beginning because it allowed me to build a portfolio. But I did have to bid ridiculously low to get the jobs. I’ve thought about going back just to get some experience in scriptwriting so I can bid on better jobs.

I still have one client that I got there — he’s given me continuous work for about two years now.

Overall, I would recommend elance for new writers who just want experience but don’t care too much about the money. But it’s better thought of as an internship.

I looked into bidding sites, but was turned off because of all the low bids.

Elance is a little better than some of the others. Rent-a-Coder actually has writers bidding .50 and $1.00 for projects!
