“The most important question a writer has to answer is, “How badly do I want it?” with “it” being a writing career.
If you want to be a professional writer, to have this be your business and vocation as well as your passion, you have to make it the priority.
Not a priority.
THE priority.
- You have to protect the work, do you work at your peak biorhythmic times.
- You have to show up on the page even on the days when you’d rather do anything else.
- You have to make a commitment and you have to stick to it.
There’s nothing wrong with writing only when you feel like it, but if you’re going to be a professional, you rely on your craft as much as on your art.”
