Self-Value & Contracts - 31 Days to Better Freelance Writing - Day 11
Speaking of Lori, here are two more tips from Lori Widmer who blogs at Words on a Page:
- Value yourself. You’re a professional who deserves a decent wage. If you can make more asking “Do you want fries with that?”, then that’s not the client or project for you.
- Never work without a contract. Period.
There is a direct relationship between valuing yourself and insisting on a contract or, as I call them, a letter of agreement.
Write well and often,

We are all on the same page lately, it seems. I’ve been feeling really frustrated with writers who don’t value themselves and make the market more difficult for all of us to command appropriate wages and make a living.
I’ve also been really angry with the scam artists who call themselves editors and give real professional editors a bad name. What is with these people? What every happened to pick-pocketing and card games on street corners? Go back to traditional scams and leave us alone. We need this.

lol… one thing that’s true over time is the scam artists and the poor writers drop out. Good clients do figure out they have to pay reasonable rates.
