Quoting Your Freelance Writing Fees
Over the last couple of days, I’ve gotten four queries about my freelance writing. All four started with email. One wanted me to do search engine optimization articles. I quickly put a price on them, sent it out, and as I suspected, have heard nothing.
The second wants help with a query letter – I’m still trying to get a sense of the exact shape of the project so I can give him a quote.
A third may want some ghostwriting and we’ve scheduled a phone call.
The fourth was a series of emails and then we went to voice. I quoted a fee for a particular letter, gave some other advice and was told my fee would be overnighted.
In each case, I’ve had to think about how much I charge. In two cases I actually quoted a fee – fees and the scope of work are pending in the other two examples.
The point? Well there are two – you’ve got to be willing to quote fees more or less on the fly. And be careful you’re not under quoting.
Write well and often,

There’s no guide as such - you’ve got to figure out what your time is worth… and see the related posts… lots of good info there.
