Reworking The Marketing Portion of The Proposal
After gathering paper and mailing supplies and having lunch, and having located three publishers I’m really interested in, I had this sinking feeling that my proposal wasn’t quite right.
I remembered The Everything Guide to Writing a Book Proposal and sat down to peruse the marketing section. Several new ideas popped up and I’m now punching up the marketing section. Suspect I’ll let it rest over the weekend and finalize it on Monday or Tuesday – yes, I’ll post the reworked version.
Write well and often,

Hi Anne,
I wrote a proposal over a year ago for a book based on a series of my newspaper columns. I had nibbles for publishers who kept it for months and months, but waiting for them (when the ultimately decided not to risk it) killed my enthusiasm. I’ve recently seen a call for subs from another publishers that seems like a good fit.
Do you think I whould send the same proposal out again or should I just accept that its ship has sailed?

Hard to tell Kate… but if the book is current or timeless and you’ve seen some possibles, there’s not much to lose by trying again.
