911 Five Years Later
Like so many writers, I wrote an essay about 911 for a website I run. It both surprises and delights me that I believe every single word I wrote that day.
I truly don’t know what to write today… I honor those who died and have died since. I grieve with the families and loved ones.
At the same time I’m constantly horrified by this administration’s response to 911 because it has been counter to everything I believe and feel. I’ve never understood how killing leads to peace. The assault on our civil rights with the Patriot Act and the President’s signing statements causes me real fear for my grandkids future. When I catch myself hesitating to say things here or in an email because I know the government is watching, I know we’re in trouble when it comes to freedom of expression and the First Amendment.
Not knowing quite what else to do or to write this morning, I posted the Bill of Rights in the Power of Words category.
Love, blessings and peace to all today and every day.

Anne, I had the same reaction today. I had to write something. I’m afraid my anger and resentment shows.
Nice commentary and a nice approach. Kudos.
