Book Proposal - Two in the Mail
Congratulate me! At least a little bit. I actually got the first two proposals in the mail.
The reason this is important is it’s so easy not to get things done! It would be way easier not to follow through. Now that I’ve gotten proposals mailed, I’m much more likely to follow through with the rest. I’m not sure why breaking the ice on any new project makes the rest of it easier, but it does.
I now know that it will cost me $1.35 in postage to send, plus the 37-cent stamp for the SASE. That means I can send the rest out without making a special trip to the post office.
I know myself well enough that the simpler I keep things the more likely I am to follow through. My new goal is to get 8 more out this week… that will make a total of 10 and that’s probably enough. I’ll get some feedback from this group; with luck I’ll actually get the book sold. If it doesn’t sell with this round I’ll contemplate the feedback, maybe do some rewriting… who knows, but I’ll have more information than I do now.
So today I’ll spend more time in at WritersMarket.com picking eight more publishers. I may even get some more packages put together, but I have a few other things on my plate.
Oh, here’s the link to the cover letter to Hazelden.
