What’s On Your Desk?
Writer’s tend to have interesting things on their desk… today I’ve got:
- Computer, screen and printer
- ¼ cup of cold coffee
- a small, cloth frog
- a couple of boxes of printer ink
- a roll of packing tape
- stacks of business cards collected in a large rubber band
- a button in a small plastic bag
- an empty cd envelope – oops, make that two
- labels that need to be printed
- a stack of book proposals and their cover letters
- 1 sheet of labels already printed
- A copy of Thomas Merton’s “Thoughts on Solitude
- more dust than I care to admit
So…. what’s on your desk?

This is a fun one. Let’s see: iBook G4, Hello Kitty desk lamp, digital camera, case of blank CDs, Winnie the Pooh doll, old cellphone that needs to be recycled, Imus Brothers Coffee mug (full of pens because I don’t drink coffee), UVA candle, pink and green calligraphy pens, picture of one of my cats, iPod, American flag pin (wore it last Monday), an “Impeach Bush” bumper sticker, Elmer’s glue, packet of tissues, Webster’s New World Dictionary, marked up draft of an upcoming post, stack of music CDs I’m transferring to the computer, box of security envelopes, Frank Lloyd Wright coaster. I could go on and on…it’s a mess!

Tons of books
Monitor and keyboard
Portable phone and headset
Pile of files for ghostwritten book #1
Another pile of files for online course I’m writing
Another stack of papers that include paid bill stubs, doctor receipts, work inquiries from potential clients and odds and ends to be filed in other files
software that has to be reviewed today
A glass with ice - the water’s been drunk
hand cream
lip balm
my can of pens
box of business cards
Speakers
Lists to be filled or to be dealt with
bills to be paid
A dictionary to raise up the monitor….
That’s just the beginning. If I dug under some of this, I might find some lost items… ;)

My desk is currently holding up
- about a week’s worth of newspapers
- two weeks worth of bills I haven’t had time to pay since the puppy came home
- about a dozen magazines I haven’t had time to read since (you guessed it!) the puppy came home
- a stack of invoices that need to be filed
- a stack of business cards that need to be entered into my address book
- about six books I keep meaning to read
- and three half-empty cans of ginger ale.
In short, it’s completely covered, because I can go upstairs only long enough to drop stuff of and then come racing back downstairs before the puppy destroys something or has an accident. It’s been a fun two weeks. :]

The question should be what is *not* on my desk! eee gads! I’ve been trying to get up the courage to clean my office now for weeks, but I know it will probably take me a solid day.

My desk is actually 3/4 cleared off because I started this post - lol - who knows when I’ll get to the horrid 1/4

Dunno how interesting mine will be, lol. My desk is a metal and glass “L” shaped one.
On the right side, a captioned telephone, a small grocery cart bought at Target (how that for shilling) that holds my cd’s & floppies, tape, thumb tacks, my running list of wins from instant win games (i know, i know), and a purple cup full of cheap pens, 5×10 envelopes, tissue paper, sm notebook, pen and pad, stapler, old monitor from 1995 with a bunny wearing a t-shirt that says ‘I’m living proof that organ transplants work!’
On the center triangle, a decanter full of strawberry sugar free hard candies, a glass mask on a metal frame that has a candle holder behind it, my 30 oz of water.
On the left is a picture of my mom, brother and me, calculator/multifunction thing i got when i worked at sprint (that runs fast), copy of bank statement, my smartphone (that has so many features I dont use, lol), hearing aid cases, prescrip. pill bottles, matching pen holder to frame that has my nicer pens, yahtzee hand-held game, checkbook, wallet & coin holder, metal lamp that matches the desk (lamp purchased from goodwill, made from the Adesso lighting co.), remote, big grant book, and leather journal.
Whew, thats it!
