Dripping Blog and Other Internet Posts
If you’re involved in posting articles etc. on the ‘net, you may be able to write ahead with something known generically as “dripping.” I didn’t make up the term, and it often makes me think of colds and allergies.
I suppose it comes, more or less, from the fact that some software (WordPress blogging software for example) and some content aggregators allow you to choose the dates your posts will actually occur, which means you can ‘drip’ them along the calendar in any way you like.
It’s a nifty feature, but WordPress only allows the pub date and doesn’t show a calendar. The same thing was true when I was the freelance writing guide over at About.com. Which means I had to figure a way to track what I was doing.
For example, I’m gone September 28-October 2, so I just wrote (actually I’m writing which is one of the problems with future posts, the tenses get confused) the dates down the left side of a paper and made a tally mark every time I entered a post and picked a pub date. By the time I get through it will look something like this:
9/28 - ///
9/29 - //
9/30 - ///
You get the idea.
Write well and often,

Anne, I haven’t figured out how to do this in WordPress yet, but I’m going to give it another try tonight!

Yeah, it’s pretty easy… there’s a box on the right that says post timestamp… fill it in and hit publish… get all your editing done first… it’s mostly easy… the time is wierd so I just tell it 5 which seems to be pretty early in the a.m.
