Is This The eBook Reader We’ve Been Waiting For?
I don’t think so!
According to Publisher’s Weekly, Sony launched its newest ebook reader last week. According to PC Week, it will only display books that are part of Sony’s ebook service, launched on Oct. 1.
The most interesting feature to me is the use of E-ink. Apparently no power-hungry backlighting is required, only the ambient light in a room or out doors… but it does require ambient light to read.
The price is a real turn-off as far as I’m concerned - $350 and it will only handle ebooks from Sony. Not my style.
I want an ebook reader that will allow me to download in every, or most ebook formats, for maybe $100 - $199. And I’d like the option of reading in the dark. Plus, it has to be useable in the bath tub to really satisfy me.
Why in the world is this taking so long? Maybe because we can already read ebooks on our cell phones? Maybe it’s a plot…
Write well and often,

Yes, I agree totally! The technology is there, but nobody wants to do it, to offer a decent realistic product.

I can’t figure out why they won’t do this. There must be a huge market for it.

you’d think so… Amazon’s Kindle is closer - http://www.thegoldenpencil.com/?s=kindle
I’ve got three posts on it… but I don’t think it’s quit what we want - haven’t seen a real one yet.
