Productivity Killers
Productivity killers or great minds… you decide. Yesterday was hectic. And partly because of that, I’m behind today, and getting behinder. (Yep, in my own blog I can invent words.)
Plus we’ve got a Santa Ana wind condition in San Diego today – which means it’s hot and my sinuses are kicking like mad, so I’ve got a nagging headache. So I took a nap. And when I started again I discovered that the stats for this blog are back up after about a week – so you know where I went first.
Seeing that yesterday’s four posts netted a nice number of visitors, I decided to write a second blog entry today. Since I didn’t have much to say I clicked on Content Done Better. Low and behold, Carson Brackney has an entry called Productivity crushers or sources of inspiration? Now if that isn’t a way to avoid my next project!
In addition to stats, I also love Technorati, even though I don’t understand it very well.
My garden can be both inspiration and a productivity killer.
So can phone calls… either mine to others or receiving them, particular those calls from friends who want my advice on something – that can be good for an hour.
House cleaning – yes, I’ve been known to wash a kitchen floor to avoid writing.
Finishing a novel I’m reading – always a good excuse I think.
A trip to the library can be a break, inspiration or just a way to avoid writing.
Okay, enough. I really have to edit chapter 4… what’s your favorite distraction?
Write well and often,

2 opinions for Productivity Killers

My favorite “distractions” from my regular writing gigs:
Playing with the kids
NaNo
Emails (and by extension e-lists)
Cleaning
Running and other exercise
Playing Everquest
Reading (on a magazine frenzy right now)
Commenting on other people’s blogs
But to be honest, I don’t usually use these things to procrastinate. If I have a gig, I don’t mind writing it. I usually only pick gigs that I enjoy. So, writing, in general, is just one of the many things I enjoy during the day.
I like to say that I have a healthy relationship with my addictions. :)

Tammy, good for you… I rarely take on anything anymore I don’t enjoy… procrastination of writing isn’t usually an issue for me… but once and awhile!
Love the idea of having a healthy relationship with your addictions.
