The Golden Pencil: The Freelance Writer’s Resource

A Writer From India Asks:

by Anne Wayman on November 13th, 2006

Q.gifI am a Content Writer based out of India and I am keen on expanding my horizons in the field of writing for Print, Internet and New Media.

Could you please let me know how best I can utilise this site and trace out job/ assignments suiting my workprofile.

Is there any place where I could post my resume for firms to contact me for writing opportunities?

Thanks & regards,

Tanya

A.gifHi Tanya, thanks for your questions.

First of all, subscribe to Abundant Writing News if you don’t already. I post freelance jobs three times a week most weeks, and I try to post only those that are true telecommunting jobs. There’s no reason you can’t do them from India. Get set up with a PayPal account so you can receive payments and the employer’s won’t have to figure out exchange rates.

Although I’ve posted my writing resume or credits on several websites, I don’t think I’ve ever gotten a response from them so I won’t make any recomendation. I will, however, suggest you get your own website. It will take awhile for it to get listed in the search engines, but I get several queries each month from mine; others tell me they have the same experience.

Start your own blog - use your own name plus the word writer or freelance writer in the title and tell the world what it’s like writing content from India. Link your blog and website and you’ve got the beginning of a good marketing campaign.

Got a question about writing? Send it to me at: anne@aboutfreelancewriting.com and put “Q & A” in the subject line.

Write well and often,

Anne Wayman
