Is There Some Universal Law?
I don’t know about you, but it seems I always get sick on either Thanksgiving or Christmas… I know, always is probably extreme, but I ended up with a mild migraine through two days of Christmas celebrations.
Fortunately, although bothersome, the migraine wasn’t so bad I couldn’t enjoy my grandkids. Having all three of my kids and all three of my grandkids gathered together at once is pure joy no matter how I’m feeling.
Today I’m not exactly sick, but I’m not exactly well either. It may be a migraine hangover or a mild case of flu or something. Whatever it is my thinking is muddied at best.
Muddied thinking isn’t great for writing or the business of writing. I’ve got some questions from a client about a contract and the truth is I can’t quite figure out what they’re asking me… It will have to wait until tomorrow.
I tried to activate the debit card on my new business card online and couldn’t make it work. Since I have checks to deposit I’ll do it in person and figure the teller will be able to sort out what I can’t today.
I’ve got a chapter back from another client and I’ll read it in a few minutes, but I can tell I won’t be doing any editing – just getting it into my brain enough so it’s not a totally new reading tomorrow.
I’m so very grateful I don’t have to try to be in an office today!
Write well and often,

Anne, I swear it has to do with the stress from being excited! After weeks of sleeping just fine, I’ve been waking up at 2:30 or 3:00 am every night for a week and tossing around for at least an hour before falling back to sleep. My husband says it’s because I’m so excited, and he’s probably right :-)

Anne, you summed up what I have been feeling the past 2 days! I’ve had a migraine as well. I went to the drug store and looked on the shelf for the pills marked “Migraine” and saw they are no more than aspirin, acetominaphen (sp?), and caffeine. So I took some of all three and it helped a little. Only tonight (12/26) though have I felt clear-headed. Dont you hate that??? Anyway, just thought I’d let you know even a muddied post that knows its limits can reach a reader!

Anne, You have my sympathy. I’m a chronic migraine sufferer myself. And no, it really isn’t compatible with office work. On days when I can’t leave the office and go home to sleep, I just try to get away from the computer screen for a half hour or so to get a little relief. Hope you feel better tomorrow.

Try inhaling citrus — even if it’s just cracking open an orange. It’ll lift your mood AND clear out the cobwebs, and help with the migraine.
For years, I was sick on every holiday — until I decided to set stronger boundaries with people, not stress, not overwhelm myself, and NOT GET SICK.
It’s worked for the past three or four years. Nice change after 30+ years of sickness on the hoidays.

Devon, citrus sounds wonderful
I don’t think it’s boundries for me anymore, but I’ll get quiet and look deeply… anything is possible ;)

Hi Anne. I hope you feel better. My entire family is sick too, just like last Christmas. I am on medicine for bronchitis and I cannot do anything that requires a lot of brainpower. I blogged about the lack of being able to concentrate too:

I second the notion that not having to go to work is terrific, no matter how we feel.
Get better!

ugh, it’s turned into a head cold… why am I happier when I have a definition for the misery? Anyway, I’m on the mend… may be human tomorrow, by the next day for sure. But there’s no writing getting done.
How do I know I’m getting better? I’m getting bored ;)
