I don’t know about you, but keeping track of income and outgo isn’t easy for me. I actually track my income and expense on a daily basis using Quicken.
I use Quicken because it adds and subtracts for me which helps hugely. But even with all my good efforts and attention, I screwed up my checkbook. I had a fairly significant error and not in my favor… don’t you hate it when that happens?
Fortunately, I’ve got savings that will bridge the gap until the next check arrives. It’s also good news and essential that I have a bookkeeping system.
All writers need one, and one they can maintain themselves. There’s nothing worse for a small business person than being vague about finances. ‘
Write well and often,

Anne, I couldn’t agree more. I use QuickBooks and love it, but I don’t use it as often as I should, like on a daily basis when I need to log expenses. :]

I actually consider keeping my numbers daily part of my spirtual practice… sort of a God Is In The Numbers… keeps me more or less sane.

Hello! I just stumbled upon this site when looking for help tracking business expenses in Quicken. If I may ask, do you have a separate bank account just for your business expenses? I pretty much just have one account for personal and business expenses, but I’d like to be able to separate the data into personal and business categories to keep it nice and compartmentalized. I’m not sure exactly how to do this. Thanks!
