Copywriters in Top 5 Demand
How about this? According to Yahoo, copywriters are among the top 5 in terms of demand for 2007. The need seems to be driven by the large number of companies needing web content.
The article talks about salaries ranging from $63,000 to $92,500 annually, reflecting a 6% increase.
What does this mean for freelancers? If you write copy, consider increasing your fees by 5 or 6%; if you don’t maybe you should consider it. It is a special niche, but it’s a learnable skill and there are a ton of resources on the web. Just google: how to write copy
BTW, there are a gillion courses out there too, but before you pay big or even small bucks, work with the free resources.
Write well and often,

This is good information for a writer to have. Thanks for pointing it out on your blog.
We can all use as many reasons as possible for justifying our rates.

Ahhh, I have this topic on my list of things to blog about, but you beat me to it. I might still give it a whirl if I ever get caught up enough with real work to devote quality time to my blog. It *is* great news for all us writers.

[...] I was amused, after yesterday’s news about copywriting, to find (and post) one job for ad writing that pays less than $15 an hour. But it could be a way to get started writing copy. I don’t know the company, I have no idea if they do decent editing… but I never know that about any of the jobs I post. They really are job leads, so be careful. [...]
