Getting Caught Up
There’s nothing like being laid up for the better part of a week to feel like I’m way behind on my freelance writing business. On my plate at the moment:
- A shortish manuscript to read so I can decide what, if anything I can do for the author, and if I think I can help, figure out how much to charge.
- Finishing editing of about 75 pages of a book that’s getting close to finished.
- Editing/writing for another book I have under contract… one chapter to edit, one to write, plus the call to the client.
- Completing an RFP due the middle of next month – I’m working on this one a bit at a time.
- Homework for the class I’m taking – this may be the most important since it’s helping me redefine my whole business. It’s also where I feel most behind.
- Laundry – can it wait until tomorrow or Sunday?
- Grocery shopping – must be done today.
- Picking up water – I buy drinking water and I think I can handle several of the gallon sizes… I’ve sure missed good water for my coffee.
I’m sure there’s more, but this list is long enough to put me close to overwhelm.
It’s interesting because this is exactly the list I would have put together moments before I pulled my back so badly… except the grocery shopping. Obviously the fact that these things didn’t get done and my life hasn’t ended and no one is threatening me with anything, I’m actually in pretty good shape. If I take it easy, and one project at a time, by this time next week I’ll have almost forgotten how behind I’d gotten.
Write well and often,

Have the water delivered so you don’t strain your back. It’s worth the price!

would if I could, but that’s not an option… so I got 4 gallons, in 4 1 gallon bottles and that works.
Or it did… I’m definitley on the mend.
