Broken Vows!
It’s been at least a decade, maybe even two since I’ve had a secretarial or administrative assistant job. I know that toward the end of the last one, I promised my self I would avoid anything that required me to fold, collate and staple stacks of paper.
Hah! Although I rarely get into this type of mindless work for myself, it happens. It also happens in the various volunteer things I do. There I am, usually with other, collating, folding and stapling stacks of paper for one purpose or another. So much for promises.
Another promise I’ve made to myself over time is to not have furniture that isn’t solid wood. I’ve been trying to avoid particle board for years. Once again, no such luck. This morning I’m assembling a two-drawer file cabinet I got from Target. The stuff is so darn heavy I broke the package open in the car and brought it in two pieces at a time! So far, it’s going together pretty easily.
Of course, if I figure out how long it takes me to assemble it – no, I don’t want to go there. I do enjoy building, well assembling, things once and awhile. There’s something about doing something physical that’s a great break from writing. And getting my files in better shape will be close to wonderful
Write well and often,

But remember Anne…now you’re folding and collating on your terms!
Love your blog.

Not to rub anything in, but a few years ago I bought the most wonderful solid wood file cabinet at Big Lots for…are you ready for this??…$30. It’s fabu. Of course, it’s only two drawers, but it’s been so faithful =)

I’m sure you’d never fold, spindle or mutilate, Anne. :))

alicia… I did check big lots… have one within walking distance, but they didn’t have anything at the moment… and two drawers is what I’ve got.
Lori… love you lady!

Yeah, you pretty much have to catch them on a good day - I just got lucky. I got my bookcase on the same day, and it was an assemble-type deal you’re talking about. (They had others, but that’s all I could afford at the time, heehee.) Oh well, it’s definitely been a trusty, too. Made it through a couple of moves with me =)
