Book Proposal – A Final Rejection
Imagine my surprise when I got one last rejection on my self-published book, Powerfully Recovered! (If you’re curious, I began this saga way back in early September of last year.)
This one is a personal rejection, complete with an apology for taking so long to respond… my sense is they were really thinking about it, but who knows.
Meanwhile, I’ve moved on. I’m still collecting small royalties from the book, and the things I’m learning with the Heart of Money class I’m taking will, in time, apply to this book as well, but there are many things in my business that have become more important.
The lesson? Well, patience, I suppose. And a willingness to not let rejections or long response times discourage you or keep you from working to develop your freelance writing business.
Write well and often,

I’m sorry for the rejection. Take a breath and send it to the next one on your list. You’ll find the right match — you’re right, it’s all about patience.

Really sorry about that, Anne. I know the subject is one people need to know about, and I’m more than certain you present it in such a way as to teach them.

Sorry to hear Anne, any rejection hurts. You know all this, but i’ll say it anyway. Allow yourself to mourn, take comfort in whatever soothes you: green tea and a nice hot soak, or hot chocolate curled up with your favorite author, snuggled under a comforter.
Then go back and start again.

Well, you did receive requests for a book proposal. Most don’t get that far. Agents and publishers reject most queries so you must’ve sparked an interest with your letter. I am currently putting together a book proposal. Any advice? Currently I’m at the first few pages of my sample chapter. I’m so anxious. I don’t know what agents are looking for in a proposal. That is, those qualities that make a best-seller etc… I have’nt sent a proposal in yet but wish me luck!

Hi JL,
Anne is no longer editing this blog. But I see that you’re wanting advice about putting together a book proposal, so I will try to address that in a future post, okay?
