Wow, what a week it’s been! First of all, last Friday I landed a new ghostwriting client. That set off a chain of events, as it sometimes does.
The real reason I got a new computer is to run Naturally Speaking by Nuance. It was time anyway… maybe even past time. But I needed more memory. I wanted the new software to get the tapes transcribed,
So Monday, Tuesday and most of yesterday and even some of today has been the goat dance associated with a new equipment. You know what I mean… the trip to the computer store to drop off the old computer so they could back it up to the new. Picking it up late that afternoon. The trip back to the computer store because the wrong email folder got transferred… lugging equipment in and out of the house. Then the trip to another computer store to get the right cable for the digital recorder – I know the original is here somewhere but it won’t be found until I move if then.
And of course, there’s the downloading of software, tweaking the system, getting used to the new monitor… all good stuff but not writing.
Plus the normal stuff like a two-hour teleclass and the follow up support phone calls; and clay! If I don’t spend a couple of hours a week potting I’m not even close to sane.
Yesterday I began to get back in the swing and this morning felt almost normal. Except I had a 40 mile drive to the new client’s home and an hour or so there. A good session… and I still have to do some grocery shopping and get to the library!
Come to think of it, when I get the shopping done and the books returned I’ll have all day tomorrow to get some writing done. I’m really looking forward to it.
