The Golden Pencil: The Freelance Writer’s Resource

A Mild Case Of Kollywobbles

by Anne Wayman on July 19th, 2007

carnival.jpgYesterday, around 11 a.m. my stomach started acting up. I actually cancelled an appointment, turned off my phone and went back to bed.

Today, I’m better, but not great – a clear case of what my mom called kollywobbles. And again I’m so very grateful I work for myself at home. The way I feel today wouldn’t really be bad enough for a full-on sick day in the corporate world, but I don’t have to face that decision.

I already emailed a client who wanted some details on a writing project that I’m slightly sick, not thinking clearly and he’d have to wait. I can handle simple tasks, but serious thinking and tracking is off the table today.

Because I’m a freelance writer I can take care of myself in a much more productive way than I ever could when I worked for whatever corp in a cube.

Soon, I’ll take a morning nap, and probably another in the afternoon. I’ll get some work done, but not much. I truly love my life, even when I’m feeling poorly.

Write well and often,
