Publisher’s Blogs

by Anne Wayman on July 20th, 2007

book.jpgIf you’ve got a book you want to market to a trade publisher, you should, in addition to checking out the publisher’s web pages and book catalog, read their blog.

Consider Chronicle Books. Their website does a good job describing what they publish. The Chronicle Book Blog can give you insight into what their editors and marketers are actually thinking.

For example, yesterday, Assistant Editor Matt Robinson wrote a screed about wanting to publish more books for men. This is almost as good as having lunch with him. Poke around the blog and you’ll find other heavy weights at Chronicle Books posting bits and pieces that can give you a real understanding of exactly what they want and need.

Ofetn you can find a link to the blog from the publisher’s website. Sometimes you’ll have to dig deeper – using Google’s blog search is a good way to start.

Make publisher’s blogs part of your marketing plan.

Write well and often,
Anne Wayman
