Are there any benefits of buying the book over subscribing to the online version? I’ve thus far used only the online version, because I like being able to know any current updates are included. Any advantage of owning the hard copy?

I’d recommend springing for the premium print edition that includes online membership. Personally, I find it easier to leaf through and find possibilities and then follow up using the online tools. Searching the site just doesn’t work as well for me. I also like being able to tab things with Post-Its and write notes in the margin. It’s a personal preference, but it’s hard to go wrong with the twofer.

? Hey I was just doing a search for some reviews for this for freelancewrite.about.com and found your entry…This has been out since July, though I noticed my local BN did a pyramid on it today… Maybe they are just swinging into promo season for all those writers Xmas presents!

Like Kristen I recommend the online version over the print. One, it’s updated (sort of; better) and easy to look through. Two think of all those trees. If you can get the same info online — why not.

Good point about the premium edition. If I didn’t already have an ongoing online membership, I’d consider it. I’m not really a post-it person, but I can see your point about the book being easier to search. I wish the online edition were more user-friendly, but I’ll probably just stick with it. I can’t imagine relying on the book for accurate information, so I’d probably waste a lot of extra time going to the online edition to double-check whether there were any updates since the book came out. :-)

The Paper version works best for me. I can throw it in my car or bag and it goes with me to appointments and when I find myself sitting with time on my hands, I am able to pull it out and read or research right there on the spot. No need for a computer or hook-up. I love it!
