Self-Publishing and the Long Tail
PODdy Mouth - Daily Dirt on POD and Self-Publishing has an interesting post called: The irony of “The Long Tail”
She details some of the hidden or at least obscure costs in self-publishing and talks about how much the long tail actually costs.
Assuming you’re considering self-publishing a book, exactly how these costs might effect you depends, of course, on what you’re doing and what your goals are. This information is just one more piece of the self-publishing puzzle.
I was surprised, and I’ll be you are too.
I wrote an article on my experience with the long tail you might like.

They haven’t made the changes yet though, I did a POD book through Lulu.com for my comedy website, I made whatever costs back and a good amount of money. I think to assume they are going to change it is a bit much. And honestly for $12 a year to keep your book in print, is it really that bad? For most people that is the sale of two books.
As time has gone on I continue to see sales coming in as people find my blog. The long tail has been profitable and even with a paltry charge will be worth it.
