Top 10 Writing Posts - 10 - Ahhhh, Negotiation!
Finally, I’ve worked my way through each of Top 10 Blog Posts for Writers (The Best From The Best in 2007!). And it’s ended on a high note for me.
Somehow, I’d lost track of Tom Chandler who writes The Copywriter Underground. His post, How to Negotiate Copywriting Fees Without Turning Into an Asshole: A Nine Step Short Course, is excellent.
Although I’ve been negotiating writing contracts for years successfully, I rarely do Tom’s lesson #5 Never Give Up Anything Without Getting Something well. Instead, I’ve learned #9 End the Negotiation Quickly perhaps too well. Next time a potential client asks me to lower my price I’ll agree only if we extend the deadline significantly. Thanks Tom!
