Economic Stimulus - Will It Help Writers?
I’m not impressed the proposed economic stimulus package. Kelly, our TaxGirl has a post that gives the details as known at the moment. Plus she explains exactly what a tax rebate actually is, and what it isn’t.
Among the reasons I’m not impressed are:
It won’t happen until summer, which seems like a long delay for a current problem
$600 won’t hurt, but I don’t see how that amount, by itself, solves what I see as systemic problems It doesn’t extend unemployment, increase banking regulation etc. etc. etc.
Do you realize we have now repealed all the regulations that were put in following the Great Depression to prevent such a thing from happing again… and we’re now seeing the results.
Will the proposed package help writers? It can’t hurt but it’s at best a band aid.

My opinion is that I’m sure going to enjoy the new jacuzzi tub I’m getting with it, lol. Sorry, I’m not educated on it yet, but will go read the guest post.

In my opinion it is a band-aid. In my case – married mother of three – I believe this writer is looking at $600-$1200 for the hubby and me and $900 for the three kids. I agree it will be a nice perk. But will it help me or my family, as a writer. No. What would help me and all Americans is the end of NAFTA. Our economy is being eroded by our own government trying to play extra nice with others.
