No Desk! No Desk!

by Anne Wayman on January 29th, 2008

bedasdesk.jpgdeskasbed.jpgYea! I’m moving… out of my tiny studio where for three years or so I’ve used a hiddenbed (www.hiddenbed.com) It’s a great solution for a tiny space, but I’m not taking it with me. I’m moving to a small two bedroom and my writing business will get it’s own office. I’ll be able to take a nap without putting the bed down, and to start the computer without lifting the desk up.

Can you tell? I’m delighted… but… (how often there’s a but) I put it up for sale on Craigslist and someone’s coming at 1 p.m. to disassemble it and take it home with them. At least I’m almost sure they are… but that’s another story, maybe.

So I’m cleaning it off… soon the computer will be moved and I’ll be deskless. I’ll probably go to Ikea and get the replacement today, and yes, assemble it. Because I’m going to be here about another week. Maybe I can figure out how to run the computer without buying another desk… arghhh… I don’t like moving much… I do like the results, but….

Congratulations! I know how you feel - moving is the bane of my existence, as well.

May I humbly suggest using the kitchen table for your desk in the interim?

When I was temporarily deskless, I went to IKEA and bought a tabletop and some folding, adjustable legs. It worked great, came in handy as additional Thanksgiving seating, and folds up flat if I need the space. In fact, I’m still using it as my desk. Good luck with the move!

Anne, there’s a lovely little desk over on EBay - type in “Pier One Desk” and you’ll see it. A white one with some neat little storage on the side.

Lori, and everyone else… the issue isn’t finding a desk… I know which one I want… it’s the room for one… I can’t put the new desk in until the desk/bed is gone… maybe today…

What a cute bed set up! I’ve never seen anything like that. It would have been perfect in my daughter’s room.

My oldest son moved out of the house on Sunday and between him and his roomate, they filled a hole cube truck. Two 20-yr-olds who had supposedly nothing. After the move, he said those famous last words, “I’m never moving again.” LOL!!!

Marjike, I know how they feel… and when I look at how much stuff I have… btw, that hiddenbed did excellent service for me in such tight space… I’d recommend it anytime.

    Hi Anne,

Can you tell me where you purchased the Hiddenbed and what the cost is?

    Thanks
