The Golden Pencil: The Freelance Writer’s Resource

Yep, We Were Down and You Weren’t The Only One Who Was Confused ;)

by Anne Wayman on February 7th, 2008

owleyes.jpgIf you follow this blog, you know I’ve been moving. I don’t know why our major telcos have so much trouble moving me 12 miles south, but the did, and it’s not the first time. So when b5media started having outages I assumed it was at my end. Isn’t that the usual way we women do it? Assume it’s our fault somehow?

I didn’t get, or didn’t spot the window that Liz over at Successful Blog did, and, given how tired I am from moving, doubt I could come up with a fun play list about all a network breakdown even today.

But I’m moved, and love it. Am now an official resident of the Sweetwater Zen Center. Although I’ve lived in community before, this is the first time I’ve lived in a spiritual community; so far I love it and feel right at home. They don’t make it too difficult; they just ask that I join them in meditation three times a week and contribute some work around the place, both of which I’m delighted to do.

Now that b5 is working, my net connection is working and all my stuff is here, even though it’s far from put away, I can begin to get back to freelance writing… feels like a long vacation.

I have a mildly related question. I have been freelancing for a year now and plan to move this summer. Most places (landlords and apartment managers and the like) want to see a check stub in order to verify employment. Obviously, I have nothing of the sort.

Did you run into this? If you freelance full time, how do you prove that you work to places that want the proof?

Fantastic, Anne! I’m so envious. :))

Enjoy the new place and the more appealing vibrations.

Trisha, I offer a copy of my most recent tax return… that seems to satisfy folks… usually they don’t want to see it, the offer is enough.

Lori… I’m loving it here so far ;)
