The Flurry At Contract Signing
It seems every time I actually get to sign a ghostwriting contract there’s a flurry of additional activity that catches me by surprise.
First, there’s my, what, excitement? That always takes a few minutes and usually a call or two of celebration. Often this is followed by another few moments of “I can’t get this done” negative thinking which I work to quickly banish.
Then there are the details, like signing and faxing a W9 and/or making sure the check is really on the way, and sometimes travel to do an interview.
I love having new ghostwriting work and signing a new writing contract. What surprises me is it often takes several hours or even the whole morning or afternoon for me to settle down, get the details handled and move into the rest of my day.
How about you? What happens in your life when you sign a new contract?

I know what you mean. I just faxed a contract and all the paperwork the end of last week. What is getting me is the waiting. I haven’t heard anything from the company. How long do you wait to contact them to make sure everything was received?

I often call or email right away to make sure… it’s awful if they’re waiting on you… so call now is my suggestion.
