Will The Money Follow If You Do What You Love?

by Anne Wayman on February 25th, 2008

We all want to do the kind of work we love and be able to make a living at it. Books like this one certainly promote the idea that it’s possible, and, in my experience, it is… except… when I come from fear. I spent years being afraid I couldn’t make enough money; that’s what I focused on and guess what? It became a self-fulfilling prophecy. Some how I kept missing a key piece, and that was I had to let go of the fear and begin to trust. No small task, but I’m living proof it can happen.

I started by consciously working on first getting my money in order. I began tracking all my expenses, every single day. Then I began to notice and get grateful for what I already had, which, when you look around, is a whole bunch for most of us.

Over at Successful (and Outstanding) Blog(gers) Lis Strauss has an approach that also works, and that’s love. In 25 Ways to Love What You Do So That the Money Follows she’s actually suggesting you start loving where you’re at, right now, wherever that is.

Some of what she suggests seems impossible to me, like: Love the clients who change their mind more often than they change their underwear.

Others are great ideas I hadn’t thought of, like: Love the accomplishment that makes your client look like a hero.

Another favorite of mine? Love the feeling of being slightly out of control.

Which one do you like best… and why?

Thanks, Liz!

Write well and often,
