Amazon BookSurge In Europe
The blog, Amazon BookSurge Antitrust Lawsuit Clearinghouse, run by Angela Hoy who has filed suit against Amazon over it’s policies regarding self-published authors, has a post called: Amazon Showing Its Power in the UK; Stephen King affected
It points to an article in The New York Times that gives a startling overview of Amazon’s policies in Europe and what some of the thinking about those policies is. It’s worth a read.
Then come back to the blog entry and read at least some of the comments. Some powerful words there.

Why can’t authors and publishers go elsewhere? Books were sold and purchased before Amazon. Why can’t they now? Give someone else the clout.

Some of us are hoping bn (barnes and nobel) will take a lead in this… haven’t heard anything… I think it’s a heck of an opportunity for them.

Wow, this is the first I have heard about any of this…guess I’m under a rock here. Going to have to explore this a lot more throughly, because my first thought was that this is a great opportunity for those wanting to self publish, but now, not so much.

Connie, I wouldn’t let this controversy stop you, or me, from self publishing… the opportunity is still huge.
