A couple of days ago I wondered why some employers of writers, editors, etc. seem to believe they need the writers in their offices in order to get the work done. I’ve been thinking about this and a couple of things have occurred to me.

If you’ve followed this blog for any length of time, you probably realize I believe every single freelance writer, editor, professional blogger, translator, tech writer, etc., should have their very own website, with their own domain name. It’s easy to do, and I’ve even written an article that will give you the overview you need […]

You know we’re sneaking up on the end of the year when you can order next year’s Writer’s Market.
It’s that time again. If you’re serious about writing magazine articles, writing books, or any aspect of freelance writing, you owe it to yourself to buy the current Writer’s Market. While it doesn’t cover everything, it comes […]

I don’t know any writer or editor who, at least once and awhile, doesn’t wish for more hours in the day or days in the week. Sharon Cherry writes a blog at b5media called Startup Spark. It’s really aimed at starting a business, but I keep finding things that work for writers.

StumbleUpon.com is both a tremendous time sink and an interesting resource. I’m cooking up some bacon for both breakfast and a spinach salad and between flipping rashers, I clicked my StumbleUpon toolbar thingie a few times… and got this:
Newseum.org which has at least the front page from over 500 newspapers in 54 countries! You can […]

Want some good news to write about? Or just to offset some of the gloom and doom we’re all exposed to every day?
Kathy Hawkins, a writer, poet and editor from Maine, and a member of our forum, pointed to Gimundo.com. Founded by Chris Case and Keith Cohn, Chris say’s on the site’s About page: […]

Barbara, who blogs at The Evolution of a Copywriter has a post she calls Simple and Profound.
She quotes Scott Ginsberg saying
“If you’re not holding a pen right now, go get one. Inspiration comes unannounced.”
This is excellent advice for anyone who writes, not just copywriters. She doesn’t, however, solve the problem of the inspiration in […]

Since I create ebooks, I’ve had to learn how to convert word docs to .pdfs. Although I own an ancient copy of Adobe’s Acrobat, the original .pdf generator, I don’t like it much.
Instead I use PrimoPDF, a nifty free pice of software you can get at http://primopdf.com/
Works like a charm.
Write well and often,
Subscribe to Abundant […]
